Dementia care and memory support

Supporting dignity, connection, and meaningful moments for people living with dementia.

We offer dementia care through our home care services, at our respite care centers (lower care needs) and also across all our residential aged care communities

Personalised dementia support

Our passionate staff work closely with home care clients, aged care residents and their families to create a relationship-centred environment, tailoring holistic care plans that go beyond a diagnosis.

We believe everyone has the right to engage in activities that bring joy and meaning. We prioritise creating purposeful experiences that enrich everyday life.

We offer specialised home care services for people living with dementia, recognising that memory loss and reduced cognition are common for many of the seniors we care for.

Dementia care is available across all the regions we service, with support tailored to each person’s needs. We’re also here for families, providing reassurance and guidance so they feel supported every step of the way.

We provide dementia care across all our aged care communities in Brisbane, offering different levels of support depending on individual needs.

At our Anam Cara community, the Sophia and Brianna wings provide dedicated Memory Support Units (MSU), thoughtfully designed for people living with changed cognition or dementia, who need secure care.

Our Reid Court and Emmaus Aged Care communities also support residents with changed cognition or dementia who are mobile, while ensuring care is tailored to their individual needs. Our community environments may not be suitable for complex and specialist dementia care requirements.

While our other homes do not have dedicated MSU wings, many residents living with dementia are supported there with understanding, compassion, and tailored care.

Our day and cottage respite centres can support people living with dementia, including overnight stays at Hadden Place. Individuals with lower care needs or mild dementia can usually attend and enjoy the benefits of respite, provided they are not displaying behaviours that require more complex support.

Purpose-built secure dementia care

We understand that some people living with dementia may wander away from their home. They may be looking to go somewhere, or they may be looking from friends or loved ones. To support their safety, we offer specially designed homes that balance security with dignity, allowing residents to move freely while remaining protected and well supported.

At our Anam Cara residential aged care community, the Sophia and Brianna wings have been purpose-built with the latest thinking in dementia care, including:

  • Strength-based approach – focusing on residents’ abilities and opportunities to do things that are meaningful.
  • Supportive design – incorporating assistive technologies and selective colour schemes to help residents recognise their own rooms.
  • Sensory gardens – featuring walking paths, seating, water features and gardens to enjoy everyday life in a natural setting.
  • Independence and companionship – residents are encouraged to be as independent as possible, with open access to family visits and the comfort of animal companions, including both visiting and resident pets.
