Overview

The Balmoral Uniting Community Centre (BUCC) is a bustling hub of activity, a place to meet people, build connections and feel a part of something. We provide social and support programs for people who want to stay active and involved. Our activity program is always being updated, and we work with you to ensure we include a variety of activities that our community enjoys. Come and join us any weekday – we'd love to get to know you. 

Services available 

  • Day programs and activities including exercise physiology classes to help you maintain mobility and balance, regular morning teas, and workshops and information sessions
  • Tiki Tuesday offers ukulele and hula dancing classes
  • Social groups including friendship groups
  • Group social outings and bus trips
  • Social support to maintain your independence, such as help with shopping, to attend appointments and home visits if you are unable leave home.
  • Drop in service and emergency food relief (food parcels)
  • Individual counselling and social work services.

Emergency food relief

We provide emergency food parcels to individuals and families experiencing financial stress and in need. Hampers with pantry essentials are available Wednesday to Friday and fresh food parcels are available on Tuesdays. We require you to show proof of low income and photo identification when you collect your parcel. Phone bookings are essential -please call us on 3399 7755 to arrange collection.

Eligibility

We welcome people over the age of 18 years with a range of abilities and can provide a safe and secure environment for those living with a diagnosis of dementia.

Funding and payment

You can access these services under your Home Care Package, Commonwealth Home Support Program or NDIS funding. Depending on your personal circumstances, you may also be able to access some services under the Queensland Community Support Scheme. You can also purchase any of our services directly.  Contact us to find out more about our fee for service options.

If you have your own transport, there is street parking and limited parking at the rear of the centre. BUCC is also conveniently located near public transport. The Morningside train station is within walking distance and there is a bus stop (number 28) located on Wynnum Road, Morningside.

 If you need transport and live in Murarrie, Cannon Hill, Morningside, Bulimba, Balmoral, Hawthorne, East Brisbane, Carina, or Carindale, we can help. Transport to other areas is dependent on availability, so contact us to find out more.
