We asked some of our longest-standing residents at Wheller on The Park retirement village, who recently came together to celebrate living at Wheller on the Park for 10+ years, what makes this tight community in Chermside a truly great place to call home.

We're so grateful to have a beautiful, thriving retirement community at Wheller on the Park and it's all thanks to our wonderful residents who call it home.

Video transcript:

All right. Can you guys tell us who you are and how long you've been at Wheller on the Park? My name's Catie Ginley and I've been Weller on the park for 10 years. My name Margaret Chapman and I've been here 15 years. I'm Ann Stallard and Noel, and I have been here for 10 years. Well, over 10 years, really. Ten and a half.

[Catie] I chose it because it's convenient. I can go to the shops. I can go anywhere on the city buses and there's lots of nice people here.

[Ann Stallard and Noel] There are two things, I guess, that I wanted when I came here. One was security and the other one was friendship. And we found both of those, so that when one of us goes, you know, the other one has got those security and plenty of friends to socialize with.

[Margaret] I think I've just must meet really nice people, you know. The staff I got, the staff are great.

[Catie] I've made some really good friends here and that's nice, and I go to the chapel here. So that's good news. So really it beats all the things that I need.

[Ann Stallard and Noel] For me and for Ann, the highest praise we can give the place is the friendships that we've formed since we’ve been here over the 10 years.

[WMQ Staff] If anyone's thinking about coming to Wheller on the Park, what would you say to them?

[Margaret] I talked to a lot of people, and I just told them how great it is. And, you know, you are happy. It’s a good life. You can do whatever you want.

[Catie] if you want to be by yourself, you can be by yourself. If you want company, there’s always someone to talk to, or have a coffee with. And the staff are amazing as well.

[Ann Stallard and Noel] I think one of the things we enjoy most as Ann explained is the independence of it. There's no pressure to be involved, but there are plenty of involvement if you want it. That's a great place to be at.

[Margaret]Well, I can’t say anymore, it’s just like home.
