Celebrating the Nepalese culture at John Wesley Gardens aged care community
At John Wesley Gardens residential aged care community, our Nepalese staff recently brought a piece of their culture to life by performing a beautiful traditional Nepalese dance for the residents. This heartfelt performance, known as the Te Festival, is a meaningful celebration in Nepal where women sing and dance to share their life stories.
For many, dancing is a part of life from a very young age, and the simplicity and joy of moving to music transcends the need for specific steps. The staff decided to share this special tradition with our residents, offering them a taste of Nepalese culture and creating a memorable experience for everyone. The residents thoroughly enjoyed the performance, and the moment brought our community even closer together.
It was also a proud moment for our Nepalese staff, many of whom felt supported by Wesley Mission Queensland's commitment to celebrating cultural diversity. Sharing their heritage with the residents was a joyful occasion, highlighting the inclusive and supportive values that make John Wesley Gardens such a special place to live and work.
