Budgies at Cooper House Residential Aged Care

A budgie family 🦜 is settling in well at their new home, Cooper House Residential Aged Care Community. Their happy chirps are filling the Whitehaven lounge beautifully 💚💛🧡.

The 6 budgies have a state-of-the-art cage on wheels (thanks to Chris Schlieff, Manager of St Marks and Cooper House Aged Care Communities), and they have been busy making room visits.

Currently they are providing some comfort to one of our dear residents who is an animal lover, on their end-of-life journey. They are so loved by our community already and have brought a lot of people happiness and comfort.

The team wheels the birds around to different residents’ rooms a few times a day. The budgies stay as long as the resident wishes, at least for an hour, sometimes all day.

Our resident Ken who spent much of his life breeding birds (for which he won many awards!) dozed off to sleep within about 5 minutes of having them by his side.

How glad we are to have the sound of cheerful chirps filling the halls of Cooper House. Our beautiful budgies make such a positive impact on our residents’ quality of life!
